Northern Cabinet Refinishing

Choose The Right Solution For You

Not sure whether refinishing or refacing is the right choice for your situation? Scroll down for a detailed comparison of each option, and if you're still unsure..

Cabinet Refinishing

If you are happy with the style of your cabinet doors and the general layout of your kitchen, then this is the option for you.

What To Expect
After an initial consultation, we assess your cabinets and remove the doors for refinishing at our facility, minimizing disruption. While your doors are being refinished at our facility, our team transforms your cabinets on-site. Once completed, we return the doors, install them along with new handles (if applicable), and adjust hinges for a perfect fit.

The Technical Stuff

  • We begin by deep cleaning the cabinets and doors to prepare the surfaces
  • Each piece is then sanded to remove any imperfections and primed in preparation for lacquer
  • We apply multiple coats of low-VOC waterborne lacquer to the cabinets and doors, sanding between coats as needed
  • All doors and cabinets are subject to a final quality inspection and then your kitchen is handed back to you, ready for many years of enjoyment to come

Cabinet Refacing

If your existing doors are in poor condition or if you want to completely change the style of your doors, then refacing will be the best option for you.

What To Expect
The process is very similar to that of cabinet refinishing (described in the section above) except with a reface you’ll be selecting new cabinet doors to be either stained or painted to your preferred finish rather than repurposing your existing doors. Any style of door that you show us for inspiration, we can have them custom made to fit your existing cabinets. If that sounds overwhelming, no problem. Choose from a collection of popular style options. You’ll be presented with these options during the quoting process.
